Dictionary

Personal Vocabulary Builder

Build a searchable, alphabetically-grouped personal dictionary. Every word you save includes definitions, multiple example sentences, and custom notes — linked to the book you found it in.

  • Alphabetical grouping with smart search and book-based filtering
  • TTS pronunciation playback with audio caching
  • Inline editing — update definitions, examples, and notes anytime
  • Difficulty scoring that adapts your practice sessions
  • Quick-add example sentences without leaving the word card
A
Abundant existing in large quantities; plentiful "The river was abundant with fish."
Acquire to gain possession of something "She acquired a new skill every month."
Practice Mode

4 Intelligent Practice Modes

Test your vocabulary with four distinct practice modes. The system uses a spaced-repetition-inspired algorithm that prioritizes new and difficult words, tracks your difficulty score per word, and adjusts sessions dynamically.

  • Word → Meaning: See the word, type its definition
  • Meaning → Word: See the definition, recall the word
  • Fill in the Blank: NLP-powered sentence completion using Porter Stemmer for grammatical form matching
  • Pronunciation Challenge: Listen to the word, spell it correctly with progressive hints
  • Adaptive difficulty — each session selects 20 words from new, hard, medium, and easy categories

Shadowing Library

Video Transcript Practice

Save YouTube video links alongside their transcripts. When you want to watch, the video opens in your browser. When you want to practice, the transcript loads in the Reader so you can type along character by character — combining listening and active recall.

  • Save YouTube links with transcripts — auto-extracts video thumbnails
  • NLP transcript cleaner strips speaker names, filler words (um, uh), and stage directions automatically
  • One click opens the video externally; another launches the typing practice in the Reader
  • Separate dedicated library space for all your shadowing materials
  • Progress tracking — resume where you left off in each transcript

Study Notes

Organized, Book-Linked Notes

Create named study groups linked to specific books. Select text in the Reader and send it directly to a study group. Reorder entries with drag-and-drop, and review them with a built-in paginated practice view.

  • One-click note creation from selected text in the Reader
  • Book-based filtering and alphabetical grouping
  • Drag-and-drop reordering within groups
  • Built-in practice/review mode with page-by-page navigation
  • Inline editing for both group names and individual entries
📗 Chapter 3 — Grammar Rules
"Present perfect is used to describe past actions with present relevance."
"The passive voice shifts focus from the doer to the action."
Jungle

Gamified Reward System

Stay motivated with the Jungle — an isometric virtual garden you grow by studying. Earn "drops" (energy) by reading and practicing, then spend them on trees, ponds, and paths to build your personal island.

  • Isometric 5×5 grid with 3D SVG-rendered environment
  • Dual currency system: Drops (earned by reading) and Seeds (premium)
  • 5 placeable items: Pine Tree, Oak Tree, Birch Tree, Pond, Stone Path
  • Persistent state — your garden saves automatically between sessions
  • Direct motivation loop: more reading = more drops = bigger garden
💧 1,250 Drops 🌱 3 Seeds

From importing a PDF to growing your garden — in four steps.

01

Import Your Material

Drag a PDF or paste text directly. Pratik Hub extracts content, generates cover thumbnails, and organizes everything in your personal library.

02

Read & Collect

Read through your material. Highlight passages in three colors, look up unknown words, and save them to your dictionary with definitions and examples.

03

Practice & Reinforce

Switch to Practice Mode. The algorithm picks 20 words per session — prioritizing new and difficult ones — across four different exercise types.

04

Earn & Build

Every character you read earns you drops. Spend them in the Jungle to plant trees and build your island — a tangible reward for consistent study.

Modern technologies, local-first architecture.

Pratik Hub runs entirely on your machine. Your data never leaves your computer — no accounts, no cloud sync, no telemetry.

Why we're building Pratik Hub.

Our Mission

Language learning software is either too expensive, too bloated, or too dependent on cloud services. Pratik Hub is our answer: a focused, offline-first desktop tool that respects your privacy and gets out of your way so you can focus on what matters — learning.

We believe that the best learning happens when reading, vocabulary building, pronunciation practice, and review are tightly integrated into a single workflow — not scattered across five different apps and browser tabs. The core features are available for free, with premium plans coming soon for power users who want more.

Our Vision

We aim to become the go-to open-source desktop workstation for independent language learners worldwide. Not a replacement for classroom instruction, but the perfect companion for self-study — where every feature earns its place by making your study sessions more efficient.

In the long term, we envision Pratik Hub as a platform that adapts to each learner's pace, supports dozens of language pairs, and proves that world-class educational software doesn't need to cost a monthly subscription.

What's coming next.

Pratik Hub is under active development. Here's what we're working on and what's planned for upcoming releases.

macOS & Linux Builds

Expand beyond Windows. Native builds for macOS and Linux with platform-specific optimizations and installer packages.

Start building your vocabulary today.

Pratik Hub works completely offline with a generous free tier. Download the Windows installer and start learning in under a minute.

Requires Windows 10 or later. The installer is not code-signed — your browser or Windows Defender may show a warning. This is normal for open-source software.
